Melba Support Services is actively seeking a passionate and dedicated Registered Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner to join our dynamic Human Rights and Practice Innovation team on a Full-Time Ongoing basis. As a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner, you'll play a crucial role in upholding the human rights of the people we support and providing trauma-informed support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a clinical case load to ensure a person-centred/driven and trauma informed approach focusing on the protection, maintenance, and upholding of human rights of people who use behaviours of protest/concern.
- Develop positive behaviour support plans based on robust functional behaviour assessments and focused on enhancing people’s quality of life and facilitate the implementation of plans to reduce and eliminate the use of restrictive practices over time.
- Ensure that where restrictive practices are identified they are used only if necessary and are the least restrictive option.
- Provide supervision to other practitioners.
About You
We are looking for someone who is currently registered and has a deep commitment and understanding of providing positive behaviour support.
- Registered as a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission with Disability Services or Education experience.
- Working knowledge of the Disability Act 2006 (Vic) and the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding framework, as relevant to the use and reporting of restrictive practices.
- Experience supporting people who use behaviours of protest/concern as a form of communication, using the principles of active support and positive behaviour support.
- Demonstrated ability to provide advice, support, coaching, and mentoring to staff in person centred active support and positive behaviour support through a trauma informed lens.
- Experience developing a range of support plans/protocols, informed by data-driven functional behaviour assessments.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including peers, employees, external organisations, funding bodies and government agencies.
- High level written and verbal communication skills.
- High level organisational and time management skills with a proven ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and work autonomously.
- Tertiary qualification in relevant field.

- NDIS Worker screening Check
- Working with Children Check
- Evidence of COVID 19 vaccination status, including booster
- Transport and Victorian Drivers License
