Group Funding is responsible for managing the Group’s long-term and short-term wholesale funding needs.
Funding and Liquidity raises Short- and Long-Term funding for the Group and manages associated collateral requirements. This covers multiple programmes including Covered Bonds, Securitisation and Senior Bond issuance. The team also manages the Bank’s short term non-traded market risk, including the interest rate, foreign exchange, funding and liquidity risks associated with the Group’s lending and deposit taking business.
The Term Funding team has responsibility for the planning and execution of all secured and unsecured term funding, Tier 2 capital, structured funding deals, development of new funding markets and assists in relationship management with debt investors, Rating Agencies, Regulators and Investment Banking partners.
This role will assist strategy development and the management of efficient execution of the Group’s Term Funding needs. This requires close collaboration with the broader Group Funding, Capital and Liquidity teams.
The position reports directly to the Head of Term Funding. The role has a great deal of daily interaction across the broader Group Funding team, Group Treasury and external business partners.
Do work that matters
Key responsibilities will include the following:Assist the Group’s term funding function, including analysis and presentation of themes and strategies to support the Group’s term funding strategy, execution, management framework & policies. This includes senior debt financing in Australia and international markets, subordinated debt, securitisation programs, structured notes and private placements.Interpret and illustrate large amounts of data to support decision making, drive business outcomes and financial performanceTo be able to operate within very tight deadlines, and to prioritize workload to meet these constraints.Provide timely information, service and analysis for input to funding and liquidity targets and on-going monitoring of funding position and limits. Including reports to senior management and ALCO, as required.Involvement in execution of hedging transactions with the market with the objective of ensuring that the Bank’s cost of funds is known throughout the life of the debt financing.Contribute to a constructive, adaptive and committed team dynamic. All team members will be expected to provide active contribution and challenge within an open and supportive team environment.Assist in management of relationships with investors, rating agencies, other banks. Provide support for RBA, APRA, ABA engagement as required.
We’re interested in hearing from people who haveHigher tertiary education or equivalent with relevant major such as maths, economics, commerce, finance, law or accounting3 years of experience in a financial services environment.Strong analytical / reasoning skills with ability to demonstrate independent thought and critical thinking.Strong communication skills and a commercial perspective.Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.The ideal candidate will be resilient, committed and enthusiastic to learn new products and skills in a changing environment.Some knowledge of markets and funding products is beneficial but not a pre-requisite.Risk Mindset – All CommBank employees are expected to proactively identify and understand, openly discuss and act on current and future risks.
