Griffith Library is committed to delivering excellent services and resources to meet the research and learning and teaching needs of the University’s students and academic staff. Griffith Library operates six campus libraries across five campus locations.

You will manage and lead the diverse and complex services and functions undertaken by Scholarly Resource Services including Reading Lists, Acquisitions, Invoicing, Collection Management and Evaluation, and Inter-Library Loan, exercising initiative and judgement where required. 

A key focus will be to ensure the optimal allocation and coordination of staff resources across key services and functions as well as the operational, strategic and project work enabling the team to operate with flexibility and agility in response to changing priorities and demands.

This position reports to the Deputy University Librarian, Head of Scholarly Resource and Library Campus Services and is part of the Library Leadership and has 15 direct reports.

About you

You will provide high level expertise, strategic support and advice on the team’s services and functions to the Deputy University Librarian, Head of Scholarly Resource and Library Campus Services.

You will be proactive in building and strengthening productive partnerships and an excellent communicator with demonstrated strong client support and problem-solving skills.

In addition to the above you will also:

  • demonstrate knowledge and understanding of current and emerging issues for scholarly resources in higher education and research.
  • demonstrate an ability to lead continuous improvement and new and innovative approaches to university library services in a rapidly changing environment.
  • demonstrate and use highly developed leadership and people management skills, including conflict resolution, negotiation skills, project management, financial management, recruitment and selection, operational planning, and change management.
  • demonstrate highly developed written and verbal communication skills including development of project proposals, documentation of policies and procedures, preparation of reports and discussion papers, and the ability to deliver presentations.
  • hold Postgraduate qualifications from a higher education institution in library or information science and extensive relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • hold or be eligible for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association.

What we can offer
This is a continuing, full-time position based at Nathan campus and it is expected that the successful candidate will be available to work across all Griffith campuses in person as a normal requirement of the role.

Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 9 range $123,186 – $127,591 annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $144,128 – $149,281 per annum.
