The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Australian Steel Markets (ASM) business as a Business Development Manager – Commercial Framing in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. We’ve got a great product in TRUECORE® steel and we are looking to drive growth of this product with existing and emerging light gauge steel fabricators within the commercial building sector - that’s where you come in!

This role provides an opportunity for you to grow your professional network and profile within the building and construction industry. With growth as a priority, your expertise will help shape the execution of the strategy – your contribution and successes will be visible and recognised.

Discover, partner and support fabricators to understand how they can leverage the opportunities of light gauge steel (LGS) into the commercial segment. From identifying existing fabricators to introducing other business owners to the possibilities of being a fabricator for LGS – you’ll inspire, support and guide them so their business can grow with ours.

What Will You Do?

With the support of your Leader, you’ll gain invaluable exposure and learnings across our business and the industry. Together this will shape your activities and support you in generating demand for our solutions.

You will:

  • develop targeted growth strategies: work with your Leader to create clear growth plans that define your activities such as industry networking and education, collection of market intelligence and identification of new opportunities
  • engage with industry stakeholders:  strategically engage with industry stakeholders, fostering alignment with our business by crafting and articulating a value proposition to fabricators, direct customers, steel designers, and engineers, while expanding outreach to industry associations and businesses outside the current steel framing market
  • develop relationships across sales teams: build collaborative relationships with the ASM sales team, partnering with them to ensure effective conversion of business opportunities with fabricator customers
  • build your broader business knowledge: use your internal network to learn about BlueScope and our operating environment, growing your understanding of our value and supply chain
  • provide subject matter advice: project manage customer support including promotional, technical guidance and training for customers and staff

More About You

An experienced business development professional, you’re someone with a knack for supporting your customers – including enabling them to execute on opportunities and realise growth outcomes. You will bring:

  • experience in developing targeted growth strategies
  • an ability to develop and apply knowledge of key channel participants, influences and decision-makers
  • effective cross-functional communication skills, quickly establishing credibility across diverse stakeholders while demonstrating organisational agility and political acumen
  • essential commercial acumen and a comprehensive understanding of fabrication operations
  • an inquisitive nature to explore our business and ‘connect the dots’ with your own knowledge
  • a desire to bring new and different ideas – viewing our today and being curious about what we need for the future
