Why we have this role @ Koala
We are seeking a dynamic Legal Counsel to work with the General Counsel and provide legal support to Koala as it leans into its audacious mission and purpose. The role will be diverse and encompass aspects of legal, governance, company secretarial, risk and compliance.
Would suit a 3-5 year commercial lawyer excited to support this innovative disruptor company aiming to do social good.
You will be involved across the business, leading transformation programs.
What key responsibilities does this role have @ Koala?
- Partnering closely with business teams to provide legal advice and support across a range of areas, including supply chain, consumer law, corporate governance, compliance and marketing.
- Supporting the development of frameworks and procedures to build and support Koala’s values based culture.
- Identifying legal risk in transactions and advising on appropriate mitigations.
- Assisting in the development and implementation of strategies to streamline business processes, both internally and externally.
- Supporting the interface between external counsel and the business.
- Assisting the Company Secretary to meet the obligations, duties and responsibilities under the Corporations Act and manage company secretarial documentation.
- Providing legal project management and managing commercial disputes.
- Compiling, preparing and delivering training on legal and compliance issues.
- Playing a key role in designing and bringing new ideas and initiatives to fruition!!
Ideal background…
- Legal qualification in Australia.
- Min 3 years’ experience in a fast paced in-house legal environment, ideally with an e-commerce background. Candidates from a commercial law firm interested in making the move inhouse will also be considered.
- Great communicator with the ability to get to the heart of a matter quickly.
- Good commercial and contract drafting skills and experience in negotiating and reviewing agreements.
- Can work both autonomously, in a team environment and across remote settings.
- An eye for detail and urge to maintain high standards.
- Driven by solving problems to deliver solutions on time and in pragmatic, (fun and) creative ways.
- Possess a continuous improvement mindset: bring your previous experience to improve things at Koala & for our customers.
- Powerpoint presentations extraordinaire - bring your creatives to the fore.
- Knowledge of G-Suite is also highly desired.
