Reporting to the Editor, Sydney Morning Herald, the Personal Assistant position provides high-level support to the Editor and day-to-day office management and reception duties. The role involves confidential, high-level information as well as engagement with executive and community stakeholders. This is a diverse, hands-on role which requires professionalism, interpersonal skilfulness, energy and attention to detail.
Day to day, you will:
- Provide quality and timely administrative support to the Editor.
- Coordinate communications, including taking calls, responding to emails and interfacing with clients.
- Maintain and report on a current log of correspondence and commitments and chase up items approaching the due date.
- Maintain and coordinate an effective calendar system, ensuring the Editors' competing demands are effectively managed.
- Make travel arrangements and detailed travel itineraries
- Act as the point of contact between the Executive and their internal or external colleagues
- Organise meetings and book meeting rooms
