The Opportunity
Come and discover the opportunity to join our Slabmaking Team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Mechanical Maintenance Technician. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
As a skilled Mechanical Tradesperson, you will perform a maintenance function to our various cranes throughout the entirety of our Slabmaking department, with cranes ranging from every day 1-5t up to 450t. While also being directly involved with the planning of maintenance in conjunction with our maintenance coordinators.
What Will You Do?
In a role that impacts the safety of our people as well as the quality and reliability of our equipment and products, you will:
- isolate equipment and perform maintenance
- inspect quality critical equipment and fault find
- plan and organise for shutdowns via our maintenance management system
- contribute to the team with out of hours support as required
- seek ways to continuously improve our maintenance strategies
- work across the Slabmaking site on crane equipment as part of the subject matter experts’ group
More About You
As a Mechanical Maintenance Technician, you’ll enjoy taking ownership for your work and contributing to the larger team. You will bring:
- mechanical fitter/machinist qualifications consisting of either a Certificate III, Certificate IV, or Diploma.
- experience in a heavy industrial environment
- experience conducting maintenance on DC motor drives
- exposure to maintenance management systems and/or basic computer skills
- an enthusiasm to learn new skills and develop yourself in the role
