The Opportunity
Come and discover the opportunity to join our Coke & Ironmaking team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a Mechanical Planner Technician. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.
As the Mechanical Planner Technician, you will support and work collaboratively with the team by providing recommendations and advice on how to best preserve the longevity of equipment. This would include inspections and monitoring methods, detailed planning of work and participating in work scheduling and execution. This is a key role in ensuring the continuous reliability of these assets now, and into the future.

What Will You Do?
You’ll provide technical guidance and drive the continuous improvement of the performance and reliability of our equipment, including:
- monitoring and reporting the condition of assets
- undertaking inspection and maintenance tasks such as - isolation of equipment, inspecting quality critical equipment, root cause analysis, completing audits, fault finding / diagnostics and fixing any non-conformances
- scheduling maintenance work and providing detailed planning of work
- capturing maintenance history and improving maintenance strategies
- provide supervision to internal and external stakeholders
More About You
As an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual, you quickly adapt and have an eagerness to learn. With your technical skills and experience in maintenance of equipment in continuous production facilities, you will also bring:
- a mechanical trade qualification with an interest in working towards an advanced diploma or mechanical engineering degree
- experience in planning and scheduling inspections and maintenance of site equipment
- experience in determining root cause through investigation processes and tools to recommend informed corrective measures
- highly developed communication and influencing skills - building constructive and effective relationships
- knowledge of the MS Office suite plus SAP will be highly regarded
