The Opportunity

Come and discover the opportunity to join our Electrical Services team at our Port Kembla Manufacturing facility as a High Voltage Strategist. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products portfolio, we have six major manufacturing sites at Port Kembla that deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to our export and domestic customers.

In this business-critical role, you will coordinate and execute routine maintenance work and attend to high voltage electrical challenges across the BlueScope Port Kembla plant, while also coordinating trade personnel and contractors to deliver a cost-effective, quality focused and flexible maintenance function.

This position welcomes experienced high voltage electricians who are seeking to transition into a “off the tools” role with ambitions to continue growing in their career. What Will You Do?

As the High Voltage Strategist, you will:

  • supervise the day-to-day management of high voltage plant and equipment maintenance activities, including planning, organising, execution and review of maintenance
  • coordinate and provide technical support to the high voltage maintenance resources within across the BlueScope Port Kembla site
  • coach, mentor and develop maintenance personnel in manufacturing excellence principles and process, particularly around root cause and problem analysis and the development and execution of corrective actions
  • participate in cost reduction and capital upgrade projects
  • respond to the day-to-day high voltage electrical availability and reliability issues

More About You

As an experienced high voltage electrician, you will work effectively in cross-functional groups, and thrive in a team environment. You will also have:

  • an electrical trade qualification, or an advanced diploma in electrical engineering
  • an electrical licence
  • experience working on high voltage equipment
  • demonstrated leadership experience
  • experience in a heavy industrial environment or the electrical utility sector
