Assistant Health & Safety Manager

We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Health and Safety Manager to join our team based in the Sodexo Head Office working within the E&R Mining Sector and reporting directly to the Health and Safety Manager. This Permanent role requires site travel to the Pilbara region. 

You will work closely with operations and our client to assist with the management of HSE objectives, strategies and accountabilities. You will schedule HSE functions to support operations and act as a point of contact for operational and business departments.  

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Develop and execute health and safety plans 

  • Prepare and enforce policies to drive culture of health and safety 

  • Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence 

  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention 

  • Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations 

  • Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and work with IM platform 

  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures 

  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics 

Who are we looking for?  

We’re looking for someone who will provide continual improvement by driving strategies and initiatives to prevent workplace incidents.  

To be successful, you’ll need:  

  • Australian citizenship or full Australian working rights  

  • Ability to undergo a pre-employment medical, including drug & alcohol testing  

  • 2 years’ experience in the safety industry or similar discipline  

  • Minimum Certificate 4 Health & Safety 

  • A current WA Manual Driver's license  

  • Understanding of legal health and safety guidelines 

  • Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies 

  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills 

  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability 

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
