Join Our Team as Operations Manager, Specialty & Emergency!
As the Operations Manager reporting directly to the General Manager, Specialty & Emergency, you will be at the forefront, assuming full responsibility for overseeing the Specialty and Emergency Veterinary business within a specific region. This dynamic position requires the development and execution of comprehensive strategies and business plans aimed at driving success.
In your role, you will lead a dedicated cohort of Business Managers and hospital directors, holding them accountable for the commercial performance of their respective hospitals. Your responsibilities cover the entire spectrum of demand stimulation and retention, placing a strong emphasis on effective client attraction and retention strategies alongside the highest possible standards of patient care.
With P&L responsibility for your portfolio, including the execution of agreed plans and targets, you will lead a team capable of supporting an evolving business. This involves adeptly managing recruitment and retention, overseeing clinical standards, and ensuring that quality processes are consistently met.
You will compile and interpret financial and statistical reports to provide comprehensive oversight, delivering strategic and operational analysis to the senior Greencross and local management teams. Your Role and Responsibilities:
- Management of nine S&E Hospitals, including P&L accountability, clinical performance accountability, and client satisfaction.
- Strategic planning and leadership support for each hospital within the region.
- Develop a solid understanding of each individual hospital.
- Implement and manage processes to review and improve hospital performance.
- Maintain a strong customer focus, adding value to clinics through a deep understanding of the market.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders in all hospitals, including shareholders.
- Develop, motivate, and lead Business Managers, Veterinary Directors, and Team Members.
- Establish working relationships between GP Area Managers, GP Practice Managers, Regional Clinical Directors, Clinics, and support office departments.
Competencies to succeed:
Essential:
- A bachelor’s degree in business or a related field, or extensive business management expertise.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, showcasing strong leadership, team-building, notable financial growth, P&L management and reporting.
- Negotiation and financial management skills with capabilities in identifying financial levers, building and clearly articulating business cases and delivery of strategic plans.
- A collaborative approach, ability to lead change with strong interpersonal skills
- High level of energy, self-directed attitude and an ability to work independently.
- High level of emotional intelligence and well-developed influencing and communication skills
- The ability to coach, develop, and support peers.
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex matters.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team towards goal achievement and outcomes consistent with organisational objectives.
- Highly organised and ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Strong IT skills, including databases and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid Driver’s License and the ability to travel interstate for site management.
Desirable:
- A bachelor’s degree in Veterinarian Science, Technology, Science or Business.
- Extensive experience within the Veterinary or Medical Industry
- Multi-Site Management experience, with a strong understanding of the challenges of supporting a 24/7 business.
- Proven track record in business and financial principles including budget development.
