Our facility boasts state-of-the-art technology, along with an experienced foundational team of highly skilled Emergency Veterinarians and Nurses. Currently operating five days a week, we aim to expand our workforce to ensure Animal care services are available 24/7. Our distinctive location collaborates closely with the daytime GP, forming a unified team under the leadership of Dr. Taylor Argent, the Veterinary Director of AEC & Greencross Kedron, and Tracey Mifsud, serving as the GP practice manager. This collaboration harnesses each individual's strengths, fostering cohesion to facilitate the efficient functioning of a 24-hour facility.

Job Description:

AEC Kedron is currently seeking experienced and dedicated Emergency Veterinary Nurses to join our dynamic team. As an Emergency Veterinary Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing timely and compassionate care to animals in critical conditions. This position involves working in a fast-paced environment where quick thinking, excellent communication skills, and a passion for emergency and critical care are essential.

Responsibilities:

  1. Emergency Patient Care: Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill and injured animals in the emergency department.
  2. Triage and Assessment: Quickly and accurately assess patients to determine the level of urgency and appropriate interventions.
  3. Monitoring: Utilize advanced monitoring equipment to track vital signs and respond promptly to any changes in patient condition.
  4. Collaboration: Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication.
  5. Client Communication: Update and communicate with pet owners regarding their pet's condition, treatment plans, and prognosis.
  6. Medical Procedures: Assist in a variety of medical procedures, including but not limited to wound care, fluid therapy, and administration of medications.
  7. Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with hospital protocols.
  8. Continuing Education: Stay current with advancements in emergency and critical care medicine through ongoing training and professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Cert IV qualified nurse or equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency and critical care nursing.
  • Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood sample collection, and anesthesia monitoring. Familiarity with advanced monitoring equipment is an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey information clearly and compassionately to pet owners.
