Job Description:
AEC Kedron is currently seeking experienced and dedicated Emergency Veterinary Nurses to join our dynamic team. As an Emergency Veterinary Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing timely and compassionate care to animals in critical conditions. This position involves working in a fast-paced environment where quick thinking, excellent communication skills, and a passion for emergency and critical care are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Emergency Patient Care: Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill and injured animals in the emergency department.
- Triage and Assessment: Quickly and accurately assess patients to determine the level of urgency and appropriate interventions.
- Monitoring: Utilize advanced monitoring equipment to track vital signs and respond promptly to any changes in patient condition.
- Collaboration: Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication.
- Client Communication: Update and communicate with pet owners regarding their pet's condition, treatment plans, and prognosis.
- Medical Procedures: Assist in a variety of medical procedures, including but not limited to wound care, fluid therapy, and administration of medications.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with hospital protocols.
- Continuing Education: Stay current with advancements in emergency and critical care medicine through ongoing training and professional development.
Qualifications:
- Cert IV qualified nurse or equivalent qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in emergency and critical care nursing.
- Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood sample collection, and anesthesia monitoring. Familiarity with advanced monitoring equipment is an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to convey information clearly and compassionately to pet owners.
