About the RoleAn opportunity exists within for a Wagon Maintainer to join the team based at our Nebo Workshop.The role requires you to work with the Maintenance Supervisor and Planners to ensure that wagon maintenance requirements are met safely and effectively. Wagon Maintainers are required to carry out scheduled maintenance, inspection work, out of course repairs and respond to emergency recoveries on the rail network.The main objective of this essential team is to ensure on time availability of Pacific National rolling stock, including the introduction of new wagon and technologies.Applicants must be able to work 11–12-hour shifts, rotating roster basis including both day and night shifts as required.Key responsibilities include:Wagon preventative maintenance, repairs and out of course maintenanceWagon maintenance in-field, which would typically include unscheduled maintenance, recovery and collision damage workPerform heating, cutting activities and weldingOperate mobile plant, equipment, vehicles and lifting equipment within work areaWagon movements in the maintenance area as required using fixed and mobile equipmentFabrication and assembly of components for repair, replacement or modificationAbout YouTo be successful in this role, you’ll need to demonstrate a solid commitment to safety, have a strong mechanical aptitude and experience working in a routine/repetitive environmentIn addition, you’ll be expected to demonstrate:Proven experience working within a production, trades, fitter or labouring roleMaintenance experience in related industries is desirableProven ability to work autonomously and as a part of a team is essentialCurrent C Class Drivers Licence is essentialForklift and MR Drivers Licences are advantageousBasic computer skills and general literacy required to carry out daily activities*Note that training is available for the right candidate.
