We’re looking for a proactive, creative and empathetic mid-weight strategic designer with 3+ years experience in innovation, digital, strategy, or service design.
We are mostly based in ngar-go (Fitzroy, Melbourne) and we welcome applications from all lands and backgrounds. We use design and technology to make change happen, at pace and at scale. In the last 12 months, we’ve designed and built Australia’s first online family violence intervention order, established a new approach to co-design for the Victorian mental health sector, built a peer-to-peer product that helps people learn Auslan, and launched a campaign to shift mainstream perceptions of climate change—plus many more.
Our practice is built on strong foundations of human-centred design and digital making. There are 50 of us, working across strategy, research, design, content, delivery and a wonderful support team.

About this role
You’ll be part of a strategic design team with diverse skills across service design, strategy and innovation, with a well-developed research practice and a strong focus on co-design. You’ll work on a breadth of projects and contexts, with the opportunity for both variety and diving deep.
Your days will be spent:
- Conducting research (both qualitative and quantitative), and gathering inspiration and insight from interesting places
- Being part of multidisciplinary teams on projects big and small, from early discovery through to implementation
- Collaboratively developing ideas for business models, services and products, and proposing improvements to organisations with big ambitions for impact
- Designing workshops and other collaborative experiences using a variety of techniques, formats and activities
- Facilitating workshops and other collaborative experiences with clients, stakeholders and people with lived experience
- Communicating ideas and research using a variety of techniques, including storytelling, mapping, blueprints
- Building cases for change based on data and best practices
- Being a partner to our clients, supporting them through the process of making change
- Taking an active interest in strategy and design, and regularly share the subject with the broader team and community
You will be above to demonstrate:
- A level of comfort with ambiguity, complexity and a process for working through it
- Experience and passion for collaborating with a wide and diverse group of internal and external stakeholders
- Experience and a desire to develop skills in service design, co-design, human-centred design and system/futures thinking
- An understanding of approaches and methods when facilitating workshops and sessions with people with lived experience
- An ability to perform excellent research, distil insights thoughtfully into tangible, person-centred actions
- Diverse experience confidently solving a range of complex problems using creativity, design thinking, innovation and general ability to ‘think on your feet’
- Capability in working collaboratively in cross–disciplinary teams (alongside designers and non-designers) to crack design challenges and co-develop solutions
- An ability to listen deeply, ask great questions and communicate clearly and succinctly
- A passion for life-long learning and the flexibility to consider many ideas and perspectives
