About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and passionate individual to join our dynamic faculty as a Lecturer in Electronics and Telecommunications (Department of Engineering Technologies). As a key member of our academic team, you will be expected to prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, and workshops and to assess students in the relevant discipline both on campus and online. This includes developing and supporting academic programs and working with the academic team in the development of program change and innovation. As part of this role, you will also be expected to mentor and counsel students on academic matters and may also supervise honours, masters and PhD students.
This position would require a suitable candidate to also contribute to the school’s research output, income, and overall impact. You will assume administrative tasks associated with normal teaching duties and will also contribute to School management and administration generally. Beyond the classroom, your influence will extend to participating in activities that foster and build further on existing links with government, industry, communities, and professions in Australia and internationally.
The Department of Engineering Technologies is responsible for half of the Majors in the University Engineering Programs, including Electrical, Robotics, Biomedical and Telecommunications Engineering. About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
* Demonstrated experience in tertiary teaching including a record of teaching into IP Networking and/or Internet Engineering.
* Demonstrated ability to undertake teaching, associated administrative duties, coordination and curriculum development at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
* Demonstrated commitment to leading edge/best practice education, including blended learning formats, online teaching and the use of case studies and/or simulations in the learning environment
* High level of oral and written communication skills in dealing with students, university staff and contacts in the outside industry environment.
* A commitment to engage with research in the university context under the guidance of senior staff (Level A) or Demonstrated commitment to research in the university context (Level B).
Qualifications
* An earned doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline or a related field (essential for Level B, preferred for Level A))
* A teaching qualification
* Membership of an appropriate professional body such as IEEE, Engineers Australia, or Australian Computing Society
