Role Description
earLAB is looking for a client-focused hearing care professional to join our team of specialists working to assist clients of all ages with their ear hygiene, hearing assessment and hearing protection. A permanent, part time role has become available for up to 3 days at our Richmond clinic.
We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate flexibility in their work schedule, including the ability to work on Saturdays.
The key daily responsibilities of the role are as follows:
- Assessment of the ear using video otoscopy
- Wax removal using aural microsuction
- Comprehensive hearing assessment
- Custom hearing protection and In Ear Monitors selection and fitting
- Ability to take deep full shell ear impressions process that require captuing as much information (please note differ to ear impressions taking for hearing aids)
- Taking meticulous ear impressions for custom hearing protection and custom In-Ear Monitors (CIEMs)
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, educators, occupational health specialists, and community organisations to raise awareness about hearing health and implement preventive measures
- Developing and implementing comprehensive hearing conservation programs in workplaces, schools & tertiary institution, or communities
- Growing clinic business through community engagement activities
- Referral to other medical or health professionals as required
Qualities of the Ideal Candidate
The role would suit a hearing professional (Audiometrist or Audiologist (or equivalent)) who has experience with manual extraction of earwax (forcep and curette, aural microsuction), taking ear impressions and conducting hearing assessment. Training will be provided to complement existing expertise.
The ideal candidate will also:
- Be passionate about using a client-centric approach to explore their needs and assist clients in making an informed decision about their ear care or hearing protection needs
- Be confident in the clinical decision making
- Be skilled at developing good client relationships and engaging with clients on all the products and services we can offer
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date client's records
- Be committed to practising in professional yet empathetic manner and ensuring the highest standard of care
- Be able to work autonomously with minimal supervision and also collaboratively with the team
- Have excellent time management skills and attention to detail
- Clear communication with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders
- Psychology or counselling skills
- Staying current with advancements in audiology, hearing protection technology, and prevention strategies is essential
- Experience in a clinical audiology setting
Qualifications
You must have 2-3 years minimum clinical experience working as an Audiologist/Audiometrist and be a member of a relevant professional body. You also need to hold a QP and a valid membership with audiological peak body
