Luerssen Australia was established in 2018 to commence construction of 12 Offshore Patrol Vessels for the Royal Australian Navy over a 12 year period. We work closely with our customer and stakeholders to deliver excellence in service.

The Role
The purpose of this position is to produce critical path resource loaded production schedules, as well as integration of Luerssen’s production schedule with various separtments and subcontractors. The PDS Scheduler will also develop and provide production reports to the management team.

The PDS Scheduler will build, maintain and report on comprehensive long-, mid-, and short-term plans and schedules on a yearly, bi-weekly, and weekly basis to support decision-making processes, wil support the work prearation team and apply problem-solving skills to enhance productivity for the sites.

As part of continual improvement this role shall apply lean methodologies and problem-solving techniques to contribute to continuous improvements on the integrated project controls processes and systems in a manner that supports Luerssen Australia’s internal requirements as well as those of their contracts.

Responsibilities
• Support the conduct of joint, multi-discipline design reviews and the development of key outputs: detailed production schedule, sequencing of subcontractor activities, breakdown of work packages into work orders, development of design schedule.
• Support the detailed monitoring, reporting and analysis of production progress and costs and inform the Contract Master Schedule; development of action plans as required.
• Support integration of detailed schedules from subcontractors and internal stakeholders into a project detail schedule.
• Support the conduct of re-planning and prioritisation analysis as required.
• Validate subcontractor data to ensure project performance data is accurate.
• Work closely with the supporting teams from other states and Germany to ensure production occurs in accordance to the Luerssen Build Philosophy.
• Support subcontractors and internal stakeholders to deliver against the baseline schedule.
• Review changes for impact assessments against schedules and manage outcomes, for e.g. costs, engineering change, technical queries etc.
• Work closely with the interstate teams to ensure lessons learned are implemented and to ensure consistency and efficiency in the Planning and Work Preparation activities based on the Lurssen Build Philosophy.
• Provide support to other functions as required.
• Develop Program Reports for internal review.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the Head of Flow Production.

Requirements
• Diploma in Production Planning or Project Management, or a combination of experience, training and education that provides the required knowledge.
• Industry qualification in Production Planning and or Project Management e.g. CPIM, PMP, APICS, IBF
• A background in a trade relevant to shipbuilding would be an advantage.
• 5+ years of experience in a shipbuilding or other heavy manufacturing industry, including 2+ years in a technical planning role.
• Sound understanding of project schedule and management principles, tools and techniques.
• Understanding of production workflows.
• Demonstrated experience in management of subcontractors.
• Prior experience in Defence would be an advantage.
• Advanced MS Excel skills and conversant with other Microsoft Office Applications and ERP / PLM systems
• Demonstrated intermediate to advanced use of production planning or project management software.
• Highly developed skills in analysing, planning, and monitoring plans and schedules.
• Exposure to Earned Value Management principles.
• Ability to review design information, schematics or ship specifications to ensure scope is addressed.
• Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
