Acute nursing skills and experience are all that’s required to start your cancer nursing career at Peter Mac.      OUR PATIENTS Our surgical team cares for patients with a range of cancers including breast, skin and plastics, colorectal, upper gastrointestinal, urology, gynaecology, sarcoma, and head and neck. We care for patients post-operatively following a range of major and minor surgeries with both curative and palliative intent. Patient acuity and complexity is often high and we adjust our nurse to patient ratio as required to ensure high quality, safe patient care. OUR TEAM Our multidisciplinary surgical team has an exceptional culture of clinical learning and support, helping every team member to advance their career. We work closely with our Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) team to ensure our patients receive evidence based post-operative nursing care. As a nurse within the team, you will have access to a dedicated practice development nurse and a team of clinical nurse specialists to support your development. OUR FACILITIES The surgical ward is a 32-bed unit located on level 6 at Peter Mac. Our patients enjoy single and double rooms with a patient entertainment system, online meal ordering and access to our communal spaces within and external to the ward.  Peter Mac sits within the Parkville precinct and is easily accessible by public transport, bicycle or car with staff parking available onsite.
