This hands-on role will provide exposure to a wide variety of retail and commercial product lines and pricing techniques, reporting directly to the Chief Actuary. Your role will involve close collaboration with stakeholders across Actuarial, Underwriting and Claims teams to create, improve and maintain pricing tools across various product lines.
This position contributes to the Pricing & Analytics team's purpose of supporting the business to improve product profitability and the financial control of the insurance products. The team covers the pricing analytics work for Consumer line Insurance business.
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Proactive and regular monitoring of profitability, business mix, claims trends and rates based on data from the rating tools and/or external sources; · Recalibration of existing pricing models, by analysing external or internal claims and exposure data to enhance proprietary pricing factors and models; · Collaborate with other departments and other regions on the development and maintenance of actuarial pricing tools as the company continues to grow and evolve; · Price individual large accounts and effectively communicate performance insights to underwriters; · Provide technical support to underwriters on rating tools; and · Present complex actuarial concepts and findings to non-actuarial stakeholders.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in actuarial studies, mathematics, statistics or a related field; · Progression towards or completion of FIAA or equivalent qualification; · 3 - 10 years of experience in an actuarial pricing role; · Proficiency in VBA, SQL and/or R; · Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of communicating with clarity, impact and influence; · Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment as well as independently; · Strong desire to learn from and share knowledge with teammates; and · Effective time management, with the ability to juggle multiple projects at the same time.
