Cairns Colonial Club Resort is a self-rated four star low-rise Resort property situated on eleven acres of award-winning tropical gardens. The Resort has 345 rooms with 2 Restaurants and bars, 3 swimming pools and a fully equipped Conference Centre.

We are looking for someone who is ready to go beyond in everything they do. If you are someone with a genuine drive, we encourage you to apply for the position of Full Time Gardening Supervisor.

We go above and beyond to keep our guests’ experiences positive. As a part of our Maintenance team. Your day to day responsibilities will be the general maintenance of the gardens at the resort.

Job Description:

General maintenance of lawns and gardens around the Resort
Soil cultivation, watering, mulching, raking, weeding, edging, pruning,Bed preparation and planting
Ensuring gardens, thoroughfares and footpaths are clear and free from weeds and litter
Planting flowers, shrubs, trees and lawns
Perform daily maintenance and general upkeep of gardens whilst ensuring minimal disruption to guests.
Repairs to irrigation and upgrading where necessary
Other duties as directed by the resorts Maintenance Manager
The successful applicant will display:

Previous work experience in a similar role with Horticultural qualifications desirable
Ability to Design/Construct a landscaping maintenance regeneration program
Knowledge of and ability to operate equipment involved in the maintenance of gardens/lawns
A reasonable level of fitness – you will be on your feet most of the day and will need to bend and kneel a lot
Good knowledge of a wide range of plants
Effective communication skills, you will be warm, welcoming, and easy to talk to
Flexible availability – you maybe required to work weekends and Public Holidays
Knowledge of Irrigation systems
Ability to oversee a small team and effectively delegate gardening duties
