Our client Masterform Systems Pty Ltd is looking for technically skilled candidates with good attention to detail for the position of a Metal Fabricator.
To be considered for this role you must have:
1. Trade Certificate or equivalent
2. Minimum 2 years of work experience as a Metal Fabricator.
3. knowledge of engineering design and manufacturing procedures.
4. Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints.
5. Proficiency with metal fabrication tools including shears, rollers, flame cutters, and drill presses.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Responsible for reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, fabricating metal components or structures, and performing quality checks on finished products.
• Fabricates and assembles structural metal products, such as framework or shells for machinery, ovens, tanks, stacks, and metal parts according to job order, verbal instructions, and blueprints.
• Develops layout and plans sequence of operations, applying knowledge of trigonometry, stock allowances for thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and physical properties of metal.
• Sets up and operates fabricating machines, such as machine tools associated with fabricating shops - radial drill press, end mill and edge planer, brakes, shears and flame cutters, torches and metal cutting machines.
Perform tasks such as:
1. Measuring and marking out cutting and bending lines, verifying dimensions and product design specifications before commencing with cutting work.
2. Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.
3. Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering.
4. Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
5. Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting, and riveting.
6. Examining welds for width of bead, penetration, and precision
7. Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing, and bathing in acidic solutions.
8. Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling, and grinding.
9. Performing quality checks on completed products, testing products for their functionality, and completing job reports.
Salary: $70000 to $75000 / Year + Super
