Position:
In consultation with the customer, prepare developmental briefs or aroma chemicals and blends of aroma chemicals, ensuring adequate raw materials available for testing and production.
Duties:
The position is to optimise the use of existing compounds, modifying according to the required application.
Ensure all tests equipment is calibrated and in good working order, adhering to the maintenance schedule.
Conduct experiments on aroma chemicals and blends of aroma chemicals, identifying composition, evaluating stability across a variety of carrier mediums (alcohol based, non alcohol based)
Analysing reactive properties of blends
Conduct experiments and analyse results of samples of aroma chemicals and blends of aroma chemicals, deterioration of quality over time and when exposed to temperature fluctuations.
Analyse findings to determine appropriate use of chemicals and blends of aromas to ensure for purpose as requested by the customer, meeting regulation guidelines for ingestible (food additives or preservatives) as well as cosmetic applications
Ensure created compounds abide by regulations in place for national customer as well as expire to the USA and the EU
Process new fragrance formulae
Maintain the fragrance library of 6000+ samples, ensuring adequate quantities on hand for customer requests
Maintain knowledge of current market trends, desirable aromas and regulations
Update policies and procedures surrounding use and care of equipment as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Chemistry
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role in cosmetic chemistry / fragrance development.
Strong understanding of laboratory practices
Compliance with the IXOM competencies framework is mandatory.

$75,000 - $80,000
