Job description:
Mechanical Engineer works within our product team for the design / innovation / production of a variety of products from concept to production. In collaboration with the product team, develop detailed designs, communicate designs to the contract manufacturer, conduct prototypes and test all products to ensure they meet the quality required.
Your work directly contributes to the successful execution of projects and the optimization of manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
New Product Design and Development:
Generate initial concepts and conduct ergonomic analyses for new products.
Perform mechanical design and create detailed CAD models and drawings.
Determine possible solutions, evaluate solutions; using CAD, engineering calculations and relevant standards, complete drawings for fabrication and provide solutions to the contract manufacturer, product manager, and, operations and sales teams.
Select materials and accessories, considering cost-effectiveness and quality.
Engage in supplier sourcing, evaluation, and negotiation in both Australian and Chinese markets.
Collaborate with supplier engineers and factories, requiring proficiency in English and Mandarin.
Oversee 3D printing of prototypes and review CAD models.
Evaluate factory samples, conduct optical tests, and enforce quality control procedures.
Engineering and working under rules
Work with team members to create new and innovative products for release in to the LED market; ensure all products manufactured at Brightgreen conform to Brightgreen engineering standards and guidelines.
Adhere to work health and safety policies and procedures, follow Brightgreen workplace policies and procedures.
Product Support and Improvement:
Delivery of product documentation; liaising with approval authorities for product approvals; assist with project viability assessments for manufacture and cost effectiveness;
Identify issues with existing products and develop solutions.
Modify CAD files and design replacement parts and accessories.
Update installation steps, diagrams, and product renders.
Maintain open communication with supplier’s engineer and factory (English and Mandarin required) to address product improvements.
Quality Control and rework:
Conduct quality control for large shipments and complex products.
Perform optical tests to ensure product performance meets specifications. Do rework to customize for customised products.
Inspect returned products and execute necessary rework to meet quality standards.
Cross-Functional Support:
Assist the warehouse team with stocktaking, quality control, and technical issues.
Train and onboard new warehouse team members on technical aspects of products.
Provide technical support to the sales team, offering solutions to technical inquiries.
Collaborate with the marketing team to create compelling product images and renders.
Skills and Qualifications:
Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 3 years experience in relevant field is required.
Proficiency in CAD software and 3D Render: Keyshot, Photoshop.
Strong communication skills in English and Mandarin (essential).
Experience in project management.
Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
Quality control and testing expertise.
Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ideally you have strong knowledge in manufacturing industry requirements and are familiar with LED lighting, Sustainability, and Tru-Colour Technology.
The Successful candidate will receive:
? $82,000 base salary plus superannuation.
