BESIX Watpac are looking for an estimator to join our NSW business for a 12 month Maternity Leave cover working on commercial building tenders across multiple sectors ranging in value from $20M - $500M. Reporting to our Estimating Manager and working as part of a close-knit collaborative team, the key responsibilities of this position include:
- Coordinate estimating with subject matter experts from construction, design management, and marketing to develop the best possible tender.
- Identify and highlight risks associated with head contract tender documents.
- Review tender documents and correctly allocate the appropriate trade packages for pricing.
- Prepare building quantities in a format that reflects industry practices and trends.
- Prepare tenders on the basis of Lump Sum, D&C, GMP, turnkey and other forms of delivery.
- Be skilled in the feasibility and costing of development projects, for internal or external clients. Be able to assist the team in skilfully negotiating tenders, conditions etc. with the client.
- Understand the mechanisms behind cost escalation and associated market risks, and appropriately factor into pricing.
- Present tenders and/or costing information in a format that enables management financial clarity prior to issue to external parties.
- Prepare submissions to promote BESIX Watpac with a view to negotiating contracts for inclusion on select tender lists.
- Maintain regular contact with major suppliers, subcontractors, government authorities, clients and industry consultants where continual contact is important in the achievement of the company's objectives.
