The opportunity

Organisation: Knox Engineering Pty Ltd
Position Title: Welder
Salary: $70000/Annum
Location: Ingleburn NSW 2565
Department: Production
Accountable to: Foreman


Responsibilities:
- Examining plans, blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements then choose which welding method/s to utilise.
- Selecting, cleaning and preparing metal and metal surfaces to undergo cutting, gouging, filling, grinding, welding or bevelling.
- Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal using gas shielded metal arc (Welding and fabrication)
- Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.
- Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
- Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting.
- Inspecting welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.
- Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions.
- Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding.
- Detect faulty operation of equipment and/or defective materials or products and notify supervisors (General equipment maintenance).
- Maintain a clean and organised work area.
- Be flexible to perform other duties within the manufacturing environment when required.
- Comply with all relevant company and WHSE policies and procedures in the performance of the role.
- Ensure that all measures are taken to take reasonable care of your safety and that of others.
- Report any hazards or incidents as soon as practicable.
- Cooperate with any reasonable request in regards to health, safety and environment in the workplace.
- Attend any relevant internal / external training as required.
- Perform any other tasks as directed by the Operations Manager.


Minimum Qualifications:
- Fabrication Trade Certificate in Welding is a positive.
- Minimum five (5) years post trade experience preferred with Mild steel, Stainless and Aluminium, Mobile Plant, Industrial Machinery, welding, oxy cutting, assembly and of mechanical components, pipe work and valve fitting are some of the main duties required
- Current valid Driver’s licence
