About your opportunity
Permanent role. Hours can be negotiated up to full-time (80 hours per fortnight).
The Urology department at the Townsville University Hospital (TUH) has a high workload and performs over 600 operations and 500 outpatient procedures every year. The department is well equipped for all open and laparoscopic procedures.
The incumbent of this role will be expected to be proficient across all aspects of general Urology, and will:
Provide comprehensive surgical services across a wide range of pathologies and patient age within the Department of Urology.
Provide support to the Director Urology in managing the medical workforce within the Urology Department ensuring that annual leave, rosters, sick leave etc. is appropriately managed across the team(s).
Lead education, research and training activities across your team(s), ensuring that these activities occur within the specialty and that staff are supported.
The TUH has recently embarked on a partnership with the Mater Hospital Pimlico regarding Robotic Assisted Surgeries and is currently encouraging use of this facility for both public and private patients. TUH was also the successful applicant for the Queensland Government Expression of Interest for a second transplant site for the state. In this regard, TUH is now robotic equipped and has commenced the assessment process for being the second transplant site for Queensland with an aim to commence in 2-3 years. The successful applicant will be required to be accredited for both robotic assisted surgeries and potentially renal transplant if so interested.
Generous pro rata remuneration package (based on f/t) up to $522,648 p.a. comprising:
Base salary rates $97.84-$124.05 p.h. (L18-L27).
4 weeks annual leave with 17.5% loading
12.75% employer contribution to superannuation
attraction and location incentive allowances
motor vehicle allowance
professional development assistance (allowances and leave)
Salary sacrificing options may apply.
Eligible health workers who move to Queensland from interstate or international jurisdictions to take up permanent employment may receive up to $20,000 in incentive payments under the Queensland Health Workforce Attraction Incentive Scheme.
Requirements
FRACS - Candidates who will be obtaining fellowship in the near future are also encouraged to apply. Appointment will be at a lower classification level until minimum requirements for the Staff Specialist classification are obtained.
Proof of qualification and Specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA).
This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and TB.
6 months' probation period may apply.
