BellaSeno is seeking an experienced additive manufacturing biomedical engineer with in-depth proficiency in research and development activities with a focus on biomedical implants for orthopaedic applications.
Responsibilities
• Leading R&D projects for the development of medical implants with a focus on applications for bone healing
• Designing implants for various regenerative applications
• Conducting pre-clinical research studies on new medical implants
• Generation of intellectual property, writing and publishing scientific papers and presenting research results at conferences
• Collaborate with internal teams and external parties, including surgeons, to identify new opportunities and develop new and improved products
Requirements (qualifications, skills, experience)
• The position requires a biomedical engineering degree in addition to a PhD degree in biomedical engineering
• Minimum of 7 years experience in a research environment, with a focus on the development of absorbable implants for bone healing
• Excellent understanding and practical experience with additive manufacturing technologies for the printing of absorbable polymers
• Proficiency with the design and development of new additive manufacturing technologies and processes
• Experienced in implantable medical device design, including developing concepts, CAD models, prototypes, and optimising designs for additive manufacturing
• Experience with CAD software for the design of engineering components (including generation of working drawings)
• Experience with calcium phosphate coatings and surface functionalisation methods for biomedical implants for bone repair
• Proven experience with leading and conducting pre-clinical studies for absorbable biomedical implants for bone healing applications, including experience with in vitro and in vivo testing for this application
• Experience with conducting and interpreting histological techniques and biochemical assays on cell seeded polymeric scaffolds and implanted polymeric scaffolds from in vivo studies investigating bone healing
• Experience with imaging techniques such as scanning electron microscopy, Micro-CT and confocal microscopy is advantageous
• Experience with writing and publishing research papers, and presenting research findings at conferences
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
