Your new company This central government agency is committed to preparing the Australian government's workforce to be ready and capable of leading our country now and in the future. This agency is designing and delivering on strategic plans to develop APS capability in core areas such as policy design, governance, leadership and delivery of government priorities. Your new role Are you looking for a challenging and rewarding role in the public sector? Do you have strong financial accounting skills and experience? Do you want exposure to a wide variety of Government Financial processes? If you answered yes to these questions, then you might be interested in applying for an APS6 position at this central Government Agency. The Financial Accountant is an APS Level 6 position that reports to the Assistant Director and involves performing complex financial accounting activities, including the preparation of monthly financial statements, balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cashflow and other financial related reports. Your day-to-day duties will vary but include and are not limited to:

The maintenance of the Asset Register
Monthly Actuals, Reporting, Journals, BAS and GST Claims
Treasury - Cash Payments, Forecasting, Drawdowns and Managing Bank Accounts
Annual Reporting - Assist in the development of the Annual Reports

As you will be engaging and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders both internally and externally, well-developed communication skills with the ability to foster professional relationships whilst building rapport and trust is a must. What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

A degree in accounting, finance;
Currently, having, or are working towards your CA/CPA would be highly desirable, but not necessary;
Sound knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, PGPA Act and related rules, and other relevant legislation and policies;
Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills;
Strong communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills;
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to deliver high quality outcomes under pressure and within tight deadlines;
A positive attitude, a commitment to continuous improvement and a willingness to learn and adapt.
