*Overview*

Clearwater Cattle is the breeding business unit of RA Rogers & Co Group, undertaking cropping, grain fed finishing and trading operations in the Wheatbelt and South-West regions of WA.

We are a progressive cattle breeding and backgrounding enterprise with a focus on high quality production in the South-West. The growing breeding herd consists of 1200 Angus females being mated to selected Wagyu genetics and calving throughout the year. Calves are produced under a supply agreement to Kylagh Cattle Pty Ltd to be fed at Kylagh Feedlot in WA.

As part of these ongoing efforts, a Beef Production Manager is required for the overarching authority and responsible party for the successful day to day operation of Clearwater Cattle and management of all activities within the property. This position is a full-time ongoing position, working 45 hours per week based in Scott River East WA 6275.


*Main tasks*

The Beef Production Manager of the Company will be responsible for overseeing and managing:

- The strategy determined by the Company to maximise beef production on the property;
- The short, medium and long-term pasture management, assessment and productivity in line with the determined strategy, particularly focused on rotational grazing;
- All daily tasks of the farm and day-to-day operations of the business including but not limited to: management of breeding programs and cow and calf health management programs; general livestock husbandry practices including all handling and veterinary treatments; livestock feeding and nutrition; bunk management if on feed, water supply; maintaining farm infrastructure including fences, water supply, pivot irrigation systems and structures; and coordination of cattle transport in and out the farm with the transporter, suppliers and receivers;
- Compliance with standard operating procedures necessary for relevant breeding programs and process systems management and process monitoring;
- Personnel and staff recruitment, training and management with regard to designated roles and responsibilities;
- Overseeing and ensuring business compliance in line with company policy of all regulatory requirements including but not limited to OHS, ASEL, QA, Animal Welfare and Environmental;
- Provision of records and reporting to the General Manager in a timely manner as required by management; and
Compliance to approved operating budget for the property.

*Required/Relevant Qualifications & Work Experience*

- Bachelor of Agricultural or Veterinary Sciences;
- Certificate in Low Stress Stock Handling (or equivalent);
- Minimum C class drivers license;
- Minimum three years’ industry experience in agricultural/husbandry fields;
- Experience with farm plant and milling equipment; and
- Experience with heavy machinery.

*Required/Relevant Skills & Knowledge*

- Demonstrated knowledge and capacity to manage and operate an intensive livestock grazing and/or breeding operation with broad administrative and operational knowledge;
- Knowledge of Australian regulatory environment associated with livestock, environmental and agribusiness systems;
- Ability to manage a small competent team in a challenging, dynamic and often high pressure environment;
- Sound understanding of livestock identification computer software;
- Demonstrated capacity to develop and review operational cash flow budgets;
- Demonstrated timely report writing ability;
- Competency in use of Microsoft Office applications including Word/and Excel;
- Understanding of relevant Occupational Health and safety requirements;
- Data analysis capacity;
- Recognition, diagnosis and/or necropsy of animals;
- Project management; and
- Excellent communication skills.
