Eileen O’Connor Catholic College Lewisham is a co-educational K-12 College for students with mild and moderate intellectual disability as well as other complex learning needs. The College has built a strong reputation for the care and education of students and provides families from all over Sydney with a Catholic option for their child with additional needs. The College provides a supportive learning environment that embraces the use of technology and personalised learning that will prepare students for their future.
The college offers small class settings (5-6 students) where classroom teachers work collaboratively with a full time Learning Support Officer. Full-time classroom teachers attract one day per week of professional planning time to support the design of quality learning for students.
About you
We are looking for a primary teacher who is passionate about educating students with mild and moderate intellectual disability. You will be responsible for working as part of a team to provide quality learning and opportunities for students to deepen their faith and practice.
The successful applicant will demonstrate:
-knowledge of and commitment to the Mission of the Catholic School
-ability to develop students' interests, abilities and coordination by way of creative activities
-ability to guide discussions and supervise work in class
-ability to prepare, administer and mark tests, projects and assignments to evaluate students' progress and recording the results
-ability to discuss individual progress and problems with students and parents, and seek advice from Student Counsellors and senior teachers
-ability to maintain discipline in classrooms and other school areas
-ability to participate in staff meetings, educational conferences and workshops
-ability to liaise with parent, community and business groups
-ability to maintain class and scholastic records enthusiasm to be part of a school with a focus on building community.
You will have attained:
-minimum two years full time teaching experience
-a tertiary qualification in Education
-eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
-employee ID registration number with Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) or a commitment to Register to Teach in SCS.
