Direct Lifts are looking for highly motivated and energetic individuals to join our growing team. Due to recent growth and expansion we have lift mechanic positions available in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. As a Lift Mechanic you will be required to design, install, repair, service and maintain hydraulic passenger and freight lifts, escalators, moving walkways, stairlifts, wheelchair lifts, elevators and other lift equipment.
Main duties and responsibilities:
To undertake the install, repair, and maintenance of stairlifts, wheelchair lifts, elevators and other lifts using hand and power tools, and testing devices such as test lamps, ammeters, and voltmeters
Read and interpret blueprints to determine the layout of system components, frameworks, and foundations, and to select installation equipment.
Cut prefabricated sections of framework, rails, and other components to specified dimensions.
Install lift structure, mechanisms including outer doors and door frames at elevator entrances on each floor of a structure
Build temporary wooden supports for concrete that is setting for lift footings (formwork)
Load vehicles, deliver and safely package product
Establish, develop and maintain business relationships with current customers and prospective customers in the assigned market segment to generate new business for the organisation’s products/services.
Make telephone calls and in-person visits and presentations to existing and prospective customers.
Develop clear and effective written proposals/quotations for current and prospective customers.
Supply management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
Ensure compliance with employment and health and safety procedures.
Decipher blueprints, wiring diagrams and drawings and specifications
Measure and lay out installation reference points
Select, cut and connect wire and cable to terminals and connectors
Use electrical and electronic test instruments to trace and diagnose faults
Repair and replace faulty wiring and defective parts
Position and install electrical switchboards
Connect electrical systems to power supply
Test continuity of circuit, install, test and adjust electric and mechanical parts of lifts
Undertake all tasks in the full understanding of your obligation to take reasonable care to ensure personal health and Safety at work and that of other persons I the workplace.
Observe all safe working practices as directed by the Operations Manager and the use of personal protective equipment as and when provided.
Have the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, varying communication style depending upon the audience.
Excellent attention to detail and written skills when communicating with others, both internally and externally and the ability to keep accurate records of services etc.
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems.
Proven industry experience in a similar role.
Relevant trade qualifications.
At least 3 years of relevant experience as a substitute to formal qualifications.
Willingness to assist and support others as required and get on with team members.
Accomplish objectives effectively within time frame given, and carry out duties in an efficient and timely manner.
You would need to be comfortable with overnight/multisite stays away for work will be required to fulfil the requirements of the role.
Have a Clean driving licence, Working with Children Blue Card, General Construction Induction White Card and Current Police Check.
Salary $80,000 - $100,000
