We are seeking a Group Solar PV/BESS Senior Lead Engineer to join our expanding team, based in Perth, Western Australia.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, development and implementation of solar PV and BESS systems ensuring successful outcomes and client satisfaction.
• Identify and mitigate risks and issues that may impact project success.
• Generate Employers Requirements and any relevant documentation for procurement sections of Owners Engineer roles (Solar-BESS)
• Provide technical guidance and advice during project development of all Solar and BESS projects.
• Provide pre-construction and during-construction advice and support to our clients on all aspects of their project development and delivery.
• Manage and be responsible for the process of grid applications for assigned projects ensuring they are submitted in a timely manner.
• Ensure that the operations processes, work practices, methods and procedures are periodically reviewed and evaluated for continuous improvement.
• Develop and maintain good relationships with all Galetech Group Companies
• Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging solar technologies, incorporating this knowledge into the design and development of cutting-edge solar solutions.
• Ah hoc duties as requested by management.
Experience, Skills and Knowledge
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, preferably with a focus on solar or renewable energy.
• At least 5 years’ experience of working within large-scale (and/or C&I) Solar Engineering with a proven track record of successful solar PV system design and installation.
• Previous experience in Commissioning desirable
• Experience with operational solar / BESS facilities desirable, including data analysis, documentation review, and risk analysis.
• Previous experience with Solar/Wind SCADA systems
• An in-depth understanding of solar technology, components, and system design principles.
• A strong commercial understanding of EPC contracting strategies, including negotiations and tendering.
• Irish (and international) market experience on the role of battery storage
• A strong commercial understanding of the market revenue stream potential of storage
• Electrical knowledge of BESS systems including various battery chemistries
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical problems.
• Solar / BESS design and design optimisation utilising most recent software packages available. (PVsyst / Solar Farmer / etc)
• Solar Resource Assessment and Energy Production Assessment
• Excellent oral and written communications skills
