Position details

  • X2 Part-Time, Permanent roles available
  • SCHADS Level 4 with a salary range of $ 82,123 - $88,367 pro rata + superannuation
  • Salary packaging arrangements providing tax benefits available for living and entertainment expenses increasing your take home income where part of your wage is paid tax free each pay, savings thousands in tax each year
  • Location: Transition from Correctional Facility IRS – Cairns North and Kiran Townsville

About your new role

The Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Worker will undertake direct support work with consumers within the Individual Recovery Support – Transition from Correctional Facilities Program.

This position contributes to the understanding and provision of wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander consumers and will work within the team aligned with the SEWB intention of practice.

It is essential the successful applicant has a genuine and direct connection to country, knowledge, and wisdom of their people. Walking the path that intertwines the correctional facility, greater community, mental health sectors, mainstream health, family and friends, is one that requires a robust disposition and determination to become witness to sustainable practice in this position.

What you will bring to the role?

  • Have formal qualification or willingness to commence within the first 12 months of employment
  • Solution focused mindset
  • Ability to maintain professionalism ensuring self and service are Trauma informed not impacted
  • Computer literate
  • Proven ability to work autonomously in community
  • Proven ability to navigate barriers of inclusion in the greater community with hope and dignity
  • Sound knowledge and proven ability delivering service provision aligned with mental health recovery principals
  • A valid Working with Children Check
  • A valid Australian Driver's License

Desirable

  • Knowledge of QLD correctional system
  • Inherently motivated to maintain work life balance
  • Genuine understanding and intention for this role to have positive impact on indigenous people with a willingness and capacity to follow through with required action to achieve outcomes in the context of long-term system reform

What the role requires

  • Eligible to obtain clearance to QLD correctional facility
  • National Criminal History Check (police check) – disclosable outcomes considered
  • Current Working with Children Check – required before commencement of work
  • Current drivers licence
  • Australian working rights
