We now have an opportunity for a passionate and experienced Academic to join our Earth and Environmental Sciences Academic Group within the College of Science and Engineering as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, Environmental Earth Science.

Full-time; continuing
Academic Level B or C $103,238 - $144,104 per annum plus up to 17% employer superannuation contributions, leave loading and other generous employee benefits
Based at the Townsville, Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas, in picturesque tropical North Queensland.
Level of appointment and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

What you can accomplish in the Role

Develop and deliver teaching and strategic, world-class research programs in coastal and catchment processes, instrumentation and modelling. A capacity to develop effective interdisciplinary collaborations, industry and government engagement and international partnerships with other universities are also inherent to the position.

What you will bring to the Role

You’ll have completed a PhD or equivalent qualification in physical geography, environmental earth science, or a related discipline, with a minimum of two years of postdoctoral research, teaching or industry experience including experience in coastal marine and/or fluvial processes and the application of field-based research that capitalises on instrumentation and modelling.

With a proven track record of research excellence relative to career stage, you’ll have an emerging publication record, a portfolio of research income, and an ability to organise and execute research projects, whilst engaging in collaborative, multi-disciplinary work within a diverse team.

A demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment is also essential to the role. You will be required to conduct lectures, practicals and assessments and will participate in the supervision of higher degree and research internship students.

Experience coordinating physical geography and environmental earth science subjects and the ability to develop and deliver interdisciplinary programs are highly desirable. Experience in co-designing research with Traditional Owners, industry, government, NGOs and other diverse community groups are also highly desirable.
