Our Nexus Unit is a 12 bed unit located at John Hunter Hospital and has a fantastic multidisciplinary team providing specialist mental health care and treatment to children and young people presenting with acute mental health issues as well as support to their family and carers.
In coming to work with us in Nexus you also join our larger Hunter New England Mental Health Service network, which covers an area of 130,000 km² with over 1700 mental health clinicians. Hunter New England Local Health District is recognised as a leader and innovator in the health care industry.
Our suitable candidate will:
o Have a medical degree registrable in NSW and Fellowship of RANZCP or equivalent specialist qualification in Psychiatry as provided for in the Staff Specialist’s (State) Award
o Have an Advanced Certificate in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry or equivalent appropriate experience in the field of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
o Be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and show experience in working as a leader and supportive member of a multidisciplinary team including education and training
o Look forward to developing strong local links with other health welfare providers
o Be committed to fulfilling the on call roster plus the responsibilities as supervisor and/or mentor for medical students and resident medical staff in accordance with RANZCP and training guidelines
