Full Time Permanent | $78k-$89k + Super | West Gippsland Your new company Located just over an hour from Melbourne, in the rolling green hills of Gippsland, Hays Recruitment are currently seeking a Payroll Officer to join our client's team on a Full Time Permanent basis. Our client is located in Warragul and they specialise in delivering high quality support to both primary and secondary schools across Victoria. You will be responsible for the following
Provide services for schools with Payroll related matters including fortnightly payroll processing, maintenance of leave entitlements and recording, salary deductions, superannuation, single touch payroll, year-end functions, long service leave, PAYG reconciliations and Workers Compensation
Provide timely information and advice to principals and school staff on payroll related matters
Provide schools with human resources related matters including letters of appointment and employment related correspondence, pre-employment checks, maintenance of personnel records and staffing records and salary assessments for the organisations school staff
Assist schools with external statutory compliance including, but not limited to, superannuation, single touch payroll, Instalment Activity Statement, and relevant industrial instruments.
Respond to school payroll and associated pay-related queries in the first instance, including those related to relevant industrial instruments
Assist in planning, implementing, reviewing and training in software systems
Provide, facilitate and/or support induction and professional learning to school administration staff in payroll and related matters
Maintain and update template information for schools based on legislative and industrial changes, including but not limited to, Letters of Appointment and the DOSCEL Intranet
Provide support to the School Finance and Resources team, Manager: School Finance & Resources and other DOSCEL Secretariat staff, as required
Other duties as directed by the Director of Catholic Education, Chief Financial Officer, School Finance & Resources Manager and Team Coordinator: School Payroll
What you'll need to succeed
Extensive experience with payroll/ human resources functions
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel applications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work as part of a team to achieve both individual and team objectives
Excellent time management and problem-solving skills
Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including principals and school staff
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality with an understanding of the organisations values
Experience in the education sector would be an advantage but is not essential
A relevant qualification in Business, Human Resources, Payroll or a related field would be an advantage, but is not essential
A current Police Check and Working with Children's Check or willing to obtain
