Newcastle Private Hospital is seeking Registered Nursing applicants to join our Medical Oncology team as an on a Full-time or Part-Time basis. The Oncology Unit covers both an Inpatient setting as well as a day oncology area; providing our patients the best possible care during their treatment. We are a 189 bed, acute, private hospital facility co-located on the John Hunter Campus at Rankin Park. The hospital has 11 theatres including a hybrid theatre and a 15 bed Intensive Care Unit. Newcastle Private Oncology Department provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care. The service has a 10 bed Inpatient Unit and a 9 chair Day Oncology Service. We also have a cardiac suite including a cardiac catheter laboratory and a 16 bed Coronary Care Unit. A private maternity suite including 6 birthing suites and a special care baby nursery is available for families in the Newcastle region. Newcastle Private Oncology Centre provides specialty care for individuals and their families/carers undergoing all aspects of cancer treatment and care with both an inpatient unit and day infusion lounge. As Registered Nurse your responsibilities will include:
Undertake acute nursing care in accordance with legislation
Deliver evidence based nursing care
Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team
Ensure patient and staff safety
Supervise, direct and guide nursing team members; Enrolled Nurses (ENs) and (AINs) to deliver patient care
Proactively assess the perioperative nursing care provided to ensure the best possible outcome is achieved for the individual / patient
Complete all required documentation in accordance with local and National Policies
Essential Criteria:
Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
Minimum of 2 years' relevant post registration qualifications
Demonstrated experience working within an acute medical or oncology setting
Demonstrated knowledge and application of quality improvement initiative using research principles to support evidence-based practice, including development of policies and guidelines.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a supportive team.
Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement individualised patient centred care;
Demonstrated professional manner when working with complex situations;
Advanced communication skills as part of a multi-disciplinary team with a willingness to learn new skills.
Flexibility to a seven-day roster including night duty
