Role: Intermediate, Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineer
Reporting to: Principal Geotechnical Engineer
Qualifications: Degree in engineering or geological sciences preferred; other qualifications may be acceptable subject to the particular discipline of the group.
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) and Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) qualifications.
Years of Experience: Minimum 10 years’ experience
Mandatory Licenses: Australian Driver’s Licence
Responsibilities: Performance of geotechnical or geological assignments at various field locations associated with particular projects. Office based analysis and design duties arising from either Mining One derived field data or data supplied by others. Preparation of draft reports for review by the Project Manager. Level of responsibility will vary with the experience of the employee.
Key Performance Areas: These will vary depending on level of experience and on the area of specialization of each individual engineer, for example: mining or civil experience:
• Rock mechanics
• Soil mechanics
• Project management
• Ground support analysis and design, including slopes, foundations, underground (tunnels and mines)
• Slope stability
• Understanding of ground conditions
• Design of monitoring systems
• Review of ground support
• Design parameter recommendations
• Risk analysis
• Foundation analysis
• Development of business opportunities
Personal Qualities: • Leadership
• Building and fostering of relationships
• Adept to working within a team environment through well-developed interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication and presentation skills both oral and written
• Strong report writing skills
Additional: Good knowledge of geotechnical engineering software and numerical modelling packages
