Senior Physiotherapist - Tasmanian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service

Department of Health

Department of Health company logo
In Tasmania, we value quality over quantity. We create, preserve, and protect the unusual. With quiet confidence, and with passion and perseverance, we pursue the extraordinary. Could you join us in Tasmania?

You’ve developed advanced skills in paediatric physiotherapy, and you could put these into place anywhere. What’s different about Tasmania is our culture and our lifestyle. You will be encouraged to be yourself, to learn, to grow and to develop meaning in your work. You will have a powerful connection to your patients, and the community will encourage your success. Our isolation helps drive a culture of invention and human connection, which feels both old fashioned and… like the only future worth pursuing.

We are small enough in Tasmania for you to shape and influence your work and make a real impact every day. Yet we are big enough for you to feel part of something important, somewhere you can belong and be surrounded by diversity, innovation, and friendships. Tasmanians are connected to the land where we live, and to the stories of the people who have cared for this place for tens of thousands of years.

The role:

As the Tasmanian Paediatric Rehabilitation Service (TPRS) physiotherapist, you will provide inpatient and outpatient care to children 0-18 years of age with a functional impairment due to complex health conditions.  The children you see will have conditions including:

Cerebral palsy / high risk of cerebral palsy
Acquired brain injury
Complex movement disorders
Complex orthopaedic conditions
Neurological conditions (e.g. stroke, Guillain-Barre syndrome)
Functional neurological disorder

Limb deficiency
You will contribute to outpatient services such as spinal clinic, brain injury clinic and combined orthopaedic rehabilitation clinic alongside the medical, nursing and surgical team.  You will also develop the hip surveillance program for children with cerebral palsy in Tasmania and work collaboratively with the acute physiotherapy team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a physiotherapist with experience in paediatrics and/or rehabilitation who would like to be part of an exciting new service.

Note: - Please refer to the Statement of Duties for all the selection criteria of this position to address in your application.

We are seeking collaborative, passionate, and skilled people to join our interdisciplinary team. Our team provides inpatient and outpatient care at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

All team members will play an integral role in developing our service as we progress through a staged implementation of our Model of Care.  We are committed to create a diverse, inclusive, and flexible workplace. lutrawita/Tasmania is well known for its beautiful natural environment, high quality food, short commutes, and excellent lifestyle opportunities.
