Showtime Event Group is a well established, vibrant and growing event management and catering company. We operate exclusively in some of Melbourne’s most interesting & iconic venues and are the preferred caterer in many more partnership arrangements. We Bring the Show to our clients, wherever they choose to host, be it in our spaces or at private locations.
As Sous Chef at Showtime Event Group you will be assisting the Head Chef with managing and training during staff.
If you are a capable and inspired Sous Chef, or a Junior Sous ready to step up to a Senior role, this is a fantastic time to join our award winning team and head up the Aerial kitchen.
Your Opportunities:
With a reporting line to the Head Chef, you will be supported in various aspects of the role
You will operate in the role of Event Chef at most of the State Library events.
As a Sous Chef, you will also be able to utilize your planning, cooking and leadership skills across some of our other nearby sites to assist with the development of our CDP's and Junior Sous Chefs.
You will enjoy preparing high quality food from interesting menus that strive to ensure our food offerings are an event highlight for our clients and their guests.
This is a key role in our ever expanding company and will lead to opportunities to move to other large sites as we acquire them, or into a multi site role overseeing more than one venue.

We are looking for someone who:
Is experienced in Event catering or similar volume kitchens.
Demonstrates flair for modern and innovative food presentation.
Has a commitment to producing high quality food products.
Takes pride in maintaining consistency and presentation standards.
Enjoys leading and developing an inspired kitchen team.
Has a solid understanding of kitchen costs and controls.

Key Responsibilities:
Ensuring the Aerial kitchen is well managed and well maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and safety.
Maintain a high standard of food production and presentation.
Managing labour and food costs.
Stock control, ordering and rostering responsibilities.
HACCP Compliance - Keep accurate Food Safety records and ensure hygiene and cleanliness standards are maintained at all times.
Leading, training and mentoring the developing Chefs in your kitchen team.

Is this for you?
Current experience as either a Head Chef or minimum 2 years as Senior Sous Chef.
Experience in a high-end boutique catering company or events company will be considered a distinct advantage.
This is a full time position, working across a 7 day roster including day shifts, evenings and weekends depending on business requirements.
Sponsorship is an option for the right candidate.
