Financial Accountant Regulatory Reporting

The opportunity

This role is responsible for managing the delivery of AMP Bank’s regulatory reporting requirements.

The primary focus of the role is on APRA prudential reporting covering AMP Bank’s financial, product, credit risk and capital positions, and will require active participation in the implementation of changes to the regulatory reporting framework, processes and tools driven by regulatory reporting requirement changes and APRA supervisory activities.

The changes include APRA’s 5-year data roadmap which is a new strategic direction for data collection that will shape AMP Bank’s regulatory reporting strategy. This role is expected to lead the implementation of activities to deliver on internal changes needed to meet this strategic change programme.

The role is also delivering on changes to the new regulatory capital and other regulatory reporting requirements arising from internal and external sources, including leading the upcoming implementation of the revised Pillar 3 capital disclosure requirements and APRA’s 5-year data roadmap.

This will include business engagement, impacts assessment of the revised reporting requirements, and readiness assessment to understand the impacts on data elements which may need to be sourced and co-ordination with other teams to identify and specify changes to processes and systems.

How you will make an impact

• Managing the timely and accurate reporting and submission of the quarterly APRA capital, credit and market risk returns, and the monthly APRA Economic, Financial and Statistical, Covid-19 and Risk Management returns for AMP Bank to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
• Leading the data analysis and validation of regulatory returns including performing first level review of the internal review packs for presentation to management.
• Provision of data and information to APRA and other regulatory bodies (RBA, ABS) as and when requested, including responding to various queries from the agencies monthly which will involve cross-team engagement with the Product, Risk and Treasury teams.
• Managing the timely and accurate reporting and submission of the monthly and quarterly ABS and APN returns in addition to the semi-annual Payment Times Reporting for AMP Bank.
• Identifying data quality issues and information gaps impacting regulatory reporting and actively engaging with various divisions to resolve, continuously improve and streamline the regulatory reporting process.
What you will bring to the role
• Ideally at least 5 years experience in a regulatory reporting function in a medium to large financial services organisation, ideally in a retail banking environment
• Solid knowledge of accounting standards and APRA prudential and reporting standards
• Working knowledge of banking and financial products highly desirable
• Relevant accounting degree
• Qualified CA / CPA (or equivalent)
• Excellent understanding of regulatory requirements and business problems and experience with developing pragmatic solutions with a focus on capital, credit risk and regulatory reporting impacts.

To be successful in this role, you have outstanding problem-solving skill, attention to detail and ability to manage your competing priorities and deadlines.
