Position Summary:
Leads teams of scientists responsible for the discovery and optimization of therapeutic antibodies via internal programs and out-sourcing. Manages antibody discovery-related activities with other Teva stakeholders (within, and beyond Sydney). Drives continuous improvement by implementing new technologies and processes. Output: timely delivery of therapeutic antibody candidates, reports documenting all associated data, and creation of intellectual property.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Conduct research and development (planning, execution and interpretation) on therapeutic antibody discovery projects at strategic and operational level, including prioritization of activities
• Provide organizational leadership to teams of scientists in the deployment of platform technologies to generate high quality lead candidates. Provide motivation and manage performance.
• Promote a positive culture by fostering a team-centric culture, providing clear communication and recognizing achievements of staff members
• Conduct antibody engineering activities to optimize antibody candidates with good potency, reduced risk of immunogenicity and acceptable developability parameters
• Responsible for oversight of some external activities involved in antibody generation and engineering at contract research and partner organizations.
• Identify and implement new antibody technologies and other platform improvements as the need arises.
• Keeps up-to-date with literature and emerging trends in the discipline.
• Work hand-in-hand with other functions including Manufacturing Sciences and Pharmacology & Pharmacokinetics to ensure project goals and timelines are met.
• To foster productive relationships with other Teva stakeholders and contribute to their education in antibody discovery
• Provide regular updates in the form of presentations and reports to the senior management in Teva
