The Position:
We are currently searching for an experienced Mixed Crop Farmer to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role within our business and involves managing a small planting/ harvesting team to ensure that all operations are effective, sustainable, and undertaken efficiently. The Mixed Crop Farmer will work under the direction of the Senior Farm Manager to plan the overall growing operation and may also undertake general farm duties such as ground preparation and irrigation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• General farm/ growing duties such as: ground preparation, seeding, irrigation and other associated activities.
• Solving day–to-day problems and reporting irregularities (defects, diseases)
• Ensuring the farm meets current goals and assist in developing the farm to achieve the company’s longer-term business goals.
• Making recommendations on capital equipment and suggesting areas of improvement based on daily practice.
• Managing daily staff issues and delegating responsibility, supervising the execution of the work and suggesting corrections where necessary
• Identification of diseases, pests and weeds in the crops and taking appropriate action.
Skills and Experience:
• Demonstrated hands on experience in leadership and day to day supervision of a small team.
• Familiarity with quality assurance and HACCP.
• Good communication skills both verbal and written.
• A sound knowledge of the safe operation and maintenance of various farming equipment.
• Confidence to perform all activities as independently as possible.
• Ability to meet timelines and manage workloads.
• Attention to detail, structured and well organised.
Remuneration:
Annual Salary: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 (based on experience).
