About the opportunity

We have several exciting career opportunities available across all our Early Learning Centre's in Alice Springs, Katherine, Palmerston, and Darwin for Diploma qualified Educators (Childcare Workers) as well as qualified Early Childhood Teachers.

We aim to continuously surpass the Children’s Services Award in order to better remunerate educators for their work. Currently we pay above the Children’s Services Award – Starting Level 3.4v $62,330 pa. (Diploma)

In addition, we offer a suite of wellness benefits to our staff including free membership to our YMCA managed gyms and pools, confidential counselling through our Employee Assistance Program, discounts to our childcare centre fees for staff who have children enrolled at our centres and professional development through ongoing industry-leading training in accordance with your personal career goals.

Furthermore, we have partnered with Karen Sheldon Training and can offer Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care with both qualifications fully funded for eligible candidates through GTNT Group.

About you

You are a Diploma qualified Educator (Childcare Worker) or a qualified Early Childhood Teacher.

We are looking for a passionate and inspired Early Childhood Educators with experience in the early years sector that possesses the following attributes and abilities:

Act as a positive role model, demonstrating appropriate behaviour.
Provide a dynamic, supportive, caring, and safe environment for all children, staff, and caregivers.
An adaptable leadership style with the ability to guide, support and mentor team members.

A positive, enthusiastic, and professional attitude.

The Y (YMCA) of the Northern Territory is a non-for-profit organisation providing high quality early childhood education, health and youth-related community services in the NT.

Our Early Learning (childcare) service, otherwise known as Early Learning at the Y, is our quality early learning service that provides personalised early childhood education and care to children aged 6 weeks – 5 years, at our 7 Early Learning Centre's located in Alice Springs, Katherine, Palmerston and Darwin.

Our commitment to safeguarding children.

The Y NT (YMCA of the Northern Territory), including its Boards of Directors, are committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding Children and Young People framework. The Y NT requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement, including but not limited to:

A national criminal history check.
An international criminal history check where applicants have worked overseas.
Holding or obtaining a Working with Children Clearance/ equivalent in accordance with state/ territory laws.
Two reference checks.
Any successfully appointed applicant will be required to adhere to the Safeguarding Children and Young People framework, which includes a thorough safeguarding children and young people induction and a commitment to upholding the safety and wellbeing of children and young people throughout their engagement with the Y NT.
