About Design at Canva

Digital designers are part of our Brand & Creative specialty alongside Brand designers, Motion designers, Videographers, Photographers etc.. Canva’s in-house creative team is on a mission to make Canva the most loved brand in the world. We work from concept to creation on world-class creative across brand communications, marketing campaigns, editorial content and production.
Digital design plays a critical role at the crossroads of Brand, Marketing and Product. We have millions of people visiting our landing pages everyday and you will be responsible for making sure this first interaction with our brand is memorable by building creative, user-friendly and on-brand digital experiences that drive users to the product and inspire them to create a design. It is an incredible opportunity to help increase our brand awareness and also have a direct impact on our MAUs and ARR company goals.
Working in cross-functional teams you will help bring these designs to life from start to finish. Creating, managing, and producing digital design solutions for a variety of uses such as landing pages, websites, product graphics, email templates, brand campaigns etc....

We looking for talented individuals with skills across the below Design specialities:


Design UX Research

From understanding user problems and needs, to helping define a vision for a new feature or product (foundational); to evaluating Beta products to ensure that utility and delight is offered to users (evaluative).
Apply a mix of qualitative (e.g., interviews, diary studies) and quantitative (e.g., surveys, insights from product data) methods to analyze user or product data and distill this into written and visual reports.
Build relationships and closely collaborate with product teams (PM, Design, Engineering, Marketing, and more).
Participate and contribute to our UX Research sub-specialty: join in on team meetings, share your expertise and opinions, provide feedback to fellow researchers
Provide consultative guidance to PMs and Designers conducting their own research.
Be a champion for our users, and product experience: share your insights publicly across the company and inspire change that needs to be made to improve the Canva user experience.

Product Design

You’ll start from the very early stages: finding the right problem to tackle, exploring ideas for how to solve it and then refining it into a coherent solution
As a product designer on the team you will carry out: research, brainstorming, sketching, prototyping, and collaboration with our engineers to ship great products.
You will advocate for users and respect our users’ opinions through interviews, usability testing, and data analysis.
You’ll create user flows and wireframes that simplify user interactions
You’ll create flowcharts, and journey maps to show the different stages that customers go through as they come into contact with Canva.
You’ll visually communicate your ideas through prototypes to test with users.
You’ll rapidly iterate through different design solutions; bucking convention in favour of progressive ideas.
You’ll partner with other designers, engineers, product developers and other disciplines throughout the company.
You’ll solve complex problems and whiteboard ideas to confidently come up with simple, elegant solutions that everyone can move forward with.
You are able to understand the different trade-offs and align design solutions to Canva business goals. Activities include: writing well-balanced Strat docs; providing different design options to show trade-offs; creating hypothesis and experiments focussing on revenue and MAU growth; ability to apply industry trends to Canva scenarios and designs.


Visual Design

Leading project based work, producing all types of content based on content gaps, user requests, trends, etc. from pre-production planning to post production
Researching relevant content and styles
Creating detailed briefs
Liaising with creatives during the entire production process
Coordinating with in-house teams and making sure their content requests are being produced
Working closely with Creative team leads in ensuring goals for the season are met
Sourcing, screening and managing our global network of creatives
Tracking and reviewing submissions/applications to ensure we get the best content for our users
Producing and creating in-house content
