The Client:

Our client, Field Mining Services Group – (FMS) are one of Australia’s leading organizations in the mining services industry. Established for over 15 years, FMS has built an impressive reputation in Queensland (QLD), Western Australia (WA), and Papua New Guinea.

Job Summary:
Diesel Fitter is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and servicing of diesel-powered machinery and vehicles used in mining operations. They ensure that all equipment operates efficiently and safely to maximize production and minimize downtime.

To provide an effective and efficient mechanical service involving the repair, servicing, maintenance, and overhaul of equipment and machinery. Follow all safety procedures to ensure the safety of yourself, crew members, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Equipment Maintenance

Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on diesel-powered equipment, including trucks, excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and
other heavy machinery.
Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and perform necessary repairs.

2. Preventative Maintenance:
Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to ensure equipment operates at optimal levels.
Replace worn or damaged parts, fluids, filters, and components as needed.

3. Diagnosis and Repairs
Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, and hydraulic system problems.
Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues and adjust or replace faulty components.

4. Safety Compliance:
Ensure that all maintenance and repairs are performed in compliance with safety regulations and standards.
Inspect and maintain safety features on equipment, such as lighting, brakes, and fire suppression systems.

5. Documentation:
Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed on equipment.
Document parts used, work hours, and any additional information required for reporting.

6. Parts and Inventory Management:
Manage and order spare parts and components as needed.
Maintain an organized inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring availability for repairs.

Qualifications:
A minimum of two years’ experience working in mining and heavy earthmoving industry
Proven experience as a Diesel Fitter or similar position in the mining or heavy equipment industry
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and electrical systems.
Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment.
Knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

Essential:

Relevant Trade qualifications – Certificate III
Class C Drivers License
Coal Board Medical
Standard 11 SOA • RII – Working at Heights • RII – Confined Space
Strong Safety Focus
Strong work ethic
