* Stipend $34,000 p.a. indexed annually at 3% over 4 years plus a top-up scholarship (Cassinia Environmental) at $12,000 p.a. over 4 years (not indexed)

About the Opportunity
In partnership with Cassinia Environmental, the scope of this research project is to explore the potential of wattleseed from selected Acacia species as a source of functional food with significant health benefits, promote food diversification and environmental sustainability. It’s impact would extend beyond academia, informing the food industry and policy makers about the potential food and environmental applications of wattleseeds.

The project has the potential to create economic and social opportunities for Indigenous communities which could be explored with the right candidate, contribute to sustainable agriculture practices, and open new markets for wattleseed products. Overall, this research will contribute to the development of innovative food products with benefits for human health and the environment.

About you
To be successful in the role, you will have:
* Bachelor with Honours or Masters in food science, biochemistry, nutrition, or a related field.
* Strong research skills, familiarity with analytical techniques and knowledge of statistics.
* Be able to work independently and communicate effectively with industry partners and stakeholders.
* Experience in sensory analysis and food product development.
* Familiarity with sustainable agriculture practices.
* Willingness to learn about Indigenous foods.
