Type: Permanent Full Time Position – 38 Hours Per Week
Located: Gladstone, Queensland
Remuneration: A$120,000 plus Super
Commencement: Immediate Start


MIPEC Marine Consultants & Surveyors is a long established firm with office based in Gladstone, Queensland. MIPEC MCS also services ports in New South Wales, Victoria and opening soon, Karratha, Fremantle Western Australia.
We are seeking qualified and experienced Ship’s Masters/Draft Surveyors to join a team of surveyors based in Gladstone, to carry out:

• Preloading suitability, co-ordinating ship’s berthing and loading
• For shifting ships, organise resources as required
• Draft surveys of dry bulk vessels
• Ensure Port Authorities safety regulations are met regarding ships in ports
• Cargo Trimming/loadmastering
• Fitness to load grain inspection
• Marine warranty surveys,
• On/off hire and bunker surveys
• Flag State
• Mock Port State Control inspections
• Train and advise ships personnel, junior surveyors

To be successful the applicant must possess:

• Master or Chief Officer on ocean going vessels, preferably bulk carriers for 2-3 years
• Relevant Australian Qualification or Overseas equivalent
• Relevant Industry experience in draft surveying/loadmastering on bulk carriers
• Fluency in English
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
• Be able to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office software
• Be able to pass Medical/Drug and alcohol test (no restrictions)
• Physically able to board a vessel from a boat using a pilot ladder
• Ability to work in a roster, including evenings, nights and public holidays
• Obtain an Australian drivers licence
• COVID certifications – as required by Port Authorities
