Cadia Operations is located in Central Western New South Wales, approximately 25 kms outside the vibrant regional township of Orange and a convenient three hours from the capital city of Sydney. Employees reside in varied accommodation options in and around the district of Orange with the surrounding area’s occupied by winery’s, stone fruit orchards, farming and national parks.
Employees have access to the area’s wide range of amenities, including a prominent health sector with a modern well-equipped regional hospital, excellent educational facilities, shopping, large selection of sport and recreation options, transport and other services such as childcare.
Who we’re looking for
We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist – Metallurgy Projects to join our ore processing department on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the Superintendent – Metallurgy, this position will see you scope, develop and execute Metallurgical capital projects within the ore processing area at Cadia Valley Operations.
In this family friendly role, you will closely collaborate with key stakeholders and on-site departments to successfully implement projects, while also having the autonomy to maintain a healthy work – life balance.
Key responsibilities include:
• Develop detailed understanding of the process flow sheets and operation of the processing concentrators at Cadia Valley Operations.
• Encourage Newcrest’s NewSafe behaviours and actively participate in interactions out in the field.
• Identify, initiate, and safely deliver multi-disciplined business improvement projects to ore processing for increased free cash flow, reduced costs and safety improvements.
• Ensure the site metallurgical laboratory continues to safely meet the metallurgical needs of the ore processing facility.
Our ideal candidate will have a high attention to detail in project reviews, problem solving and troubleshooting as well as demonstrated capability to deliver timely outcomes and prioritise workflow.
You will also possess the following:
• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering
• Significant exposure & experience to mineral processing operations.
• Exposure to SABC milling and flotation unit processes and gravity concentration processes within the base metals industry considered an advantage.
• Firsthand experience of capital project processes and deliverables.
• Detailed understanding of metallurgical accounting and AMIRA P745 guideline.
