It is an exciting time of growth for us here at Pepperstone and as our Engineering Team Lead, you will lead our engineering team and practices in the delivery of our platform. Reporting to our Head of Engineering, APAC, you will be responsible for designing solutions and advocating for incremental progress in our projects, all while guiding and developing the team.

In this role, you'll have the autonomy to manage your team, providing them with the necessary support to ensure timely delivery of initiatives.

Furthermore, you'll play a vital role in shaping and positively influencing the Engineering function at Pepperstone, leading the way in adopting best practices in engineering.

This is a permanent full-time role, but we are open to part-time (0.8 FTE) for the right candidate. When you answer the screening questions, please feel free to share your preference, including any interest in part-time options. We are open to accommodating your request.

As our Engineering Team Lead, you will be responsible for :

  • Establishing a target state architecture for the Partners platform with the support of the Principal Architect and Head of Engineering.
  • Championing and leading Continuous Delivery practices within the team.
  • Working incrementally towards delivering the platform, collaborating closely with Product and using customer data and insights to drive prioritization.
  • Implementing strong quality and automation practices and processes.
  • Hands-on design and implementation of software patterns and architecture.
  • Collaborating with the Heads of Engineering and Principal Architect to develop best-in-class software solutions.
  • Setting clear expectations for team members; seeking, synthesizing, and providing feedback.
  • Building, supporting, and developing the Partners platform engineering team and other members of the technology team to establish ways of working that drive our business objectives.
  • Contributing to the enhancement of software development lifecycle processes.

About You:

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years in a Technical Lead role or equivalent in an agile setting.
  • Expertise in TypeScript, React, and front-end development; proficiency in full-stack development in various languages and hands-on experience with AWS.
  • In-depth knowledge of testing methodologies (e.g., TDD, BDD, mocking).
  • Experience using automation tools to build robust, automated build/release/deploy processes (e.g., Github Actions).Understanding of containers and container orchestration (docker, ECS, EKS, docker-compose).
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to influence stakeholders at various levels.
  • Dedication to continuous learning and staying updated with software engineering trends.
  • Profound understanding of software development best practices, including object-oriented and functional programming, design patterns, and more.
